Week of March 23, 2026 - Small World Seafood Update
Hello everybody!!
This is a week where we do a Suturday pick up in Queen Village then onto Moore Brothers in Pennsauken.
How good did it feel in your brain this past weekend, huh? Sunshine, warm weather, a smile on everybody's face, daffodils popping out of the ground, buds on the trees, Mr Softy truck music playing in the air, Phillies home opener this week....ahhhh...the signs of spring are upon us. Bigtime dopamine flush to the frontal cortex...feels mighty fine.
This week, we have a few great things to play with. First of all, it looks like we can do more fresh cooked claw and knuckle lobster meat! I know it's more a symbol of summer but a little frontloaded teaser can't be bad, right? Plus, to go along with that, more lobster ravioli made for us by Settantatre Pasta Co! I like to saute mushrooms and make a cream sauce, add the lobster meat and then toss in the ravioli to finish...my lord...luscious..
Speaking of luscious, we will have more fresh Greenland turbot fillets this week! The northernmost cousin in the halibut family, it is delicate, creamy and one of the most elegant fish you will ever have. You can simply bake in the over with salt, pepper and olive oil for 12-15 minutes or try your hand at baking it in parchment for a steamy surprise tableside!
And with Passover next week, we have frozen gefilte fish logs from Raskins in Brooklyn! These are the good ones. And such a hit with you guys. We sold a ton of them last week and have more this week but not a ton more so order early. They may sell out..
We have fresh Faroe Island salmon and Hokkaido scallops. Both sushi grade! Now, I've gotten a few emails from you guys asking about sides of salmon for the Passover Seders next Wednesday and Thursday night. Right now, it looks like we will not be getting more salmon next week so we will be subbing in Steelhead trout. Buuuut, some of you still want whole sides of salmon and also, you want to get your shopping done early. Sooooooo, we will be blast freezing whole salmon sides this week as an extra option so you can have it for the holiday.
We have more butterflied branzini and rainbow trout. Great vids on our site on how to prepare those. Hamachi loin is back too!!! And as a note, Chilean Seabass sides or Black Cod sides for Passover seders could be pretty cool too...
Plus whole daurades and whole barbouni (rouget)!
And as far as special features go, Wagyu ground beef is back in the mix! Plus, for a fun feature for the Jewish holiday, we have teamed up with Good Good Chocolates in Queen Village who made some chocolate covered matzah with toffee! They call it Mazel Toffee and it is delicious! Super high quality chocolate and toffee on this one. A great gift to bring to a seder if you are invited or just treat yourself to something quite fine!
More smoked albacore tuna spread is around. Grab it while you can.
And as always, I am still keeping my eyes peeled for something else coming our way. You never know..There are a few possibilities still to reveal themselves....
You see how much fun we can have? I feel it too...
Littleneck clams are the shellfish of the week....Pair with Settentatre Pasta Co's organic fresh spinach linguini for cheapest meal ever!! Not sure about oysters yet ... We have labneh and smoked fish..So many good things..
Plenty of crab meat, shrimp, etc....
I know, I know..Lots of words...
Anyway, as usual, I have to thank all of you guys for being in our lives. What an incredible community we live in...
