Week of May 12, 2025 - Small World Seafood Update

Hello everybody!!

What a gorgeous weekend for all the mammas in the area! We don't celebrate you enough in my opinion. We should at least try to make it Mothers Week instead of Day. Seriously...

Also seriously, Sunday was the full moon so you know what that means....the chance at tuna!!! And guess what? We have some coming! Beautiful fresh yellowfin tuna, sushi grade and ready for your poke bowls!! What is better than that on a nice warm day? Or any day really....

Also up this week is a fish we don't get to see much around here comnig direct from Hawaii, wahoooooooooo!! Also known as Ono in the islands, wahoo is a steaky fish with a terrific flavor. Super for the grill. Super for tacos. Super to simply roast in the oven. And it takes to strong spicing so well too! We will blast freeze this fish in portions. By the way, wahoo is also sushi grade so really nice in a poke bowl. That's how they roll in Hawaii....

And back to cheeks. This week, we go back to the perennial favorite of so many of you when it comes to cheeks...cod cheeks!! These things are so delish with a little dredge and pan fry as well as superb in a brothy dish. For example, you are making a Cioppino. These nuggets will impart a ton of flavor and never fall apart like cod loin can. Win, win!!!

Branzini butterflied are back!!! Along with some whole daurades, too! Both from Greece and so amazingly good. I mean, just compare the price vs what you would pay in a resto. First of all, it is waaaay cheaper to cook it yourself. Plus, dare I say, it'll taste fresher and better because you made it yourself...there...

We have Faroe island salmon as well as Hokkaido scallops. Both sushi grade. i love hearing from people more and more about how much they love our scallops. For some, including myself to be honest, eating them raw, sliced into thin discs is their favorite way to eat it...A litlle ponzu and tobikko for some crunch...my lord...

We have lobster tails from South Africa. We have wild rock shrimp as well as large head on Argentine Red shrimp. We have Black Cod fillets, of course...

As for specials this week, no more hot dogs but wagyu ground beef from StonyRun Farms is back! Boy, this town has been jonesing...Also, no bagels but we have a small shot of Tomato Pie from Pizza Freak Co! Voted best frozen pizza over and over, this is the real deal from two local chefs, Brad Daniel and Brad Gilbert. It really is the best frozen pizza you'll ever have. You can ever add toppings to them when you bake them off!!

Wre have more swordfish meatballs in pesto cream sauce. More shrimp and crab canneloni and the fresh pasta of the week will be more spaghetti. I know that may seem a little plain but a really good spaghetii....

You see? How much fun we can have?

PEI mussels are the shellfish of the week.... Oysters are Island Pearls from PEI. We have lonsa and smoked fish..So many good things..

Plenty of crab meat, shrimp, etc....

I know, I know..Lots of words...

Anyway, as usual, I have to thank all of you guys for being in our lives. What an incredible community we live in...
