Week of March 9, 2026 - Small World Seafood Update
Hello everybody!!
Well, thank God winter's over...phewww...good riddance...The sun is finally out, people walking around in shorts and a tee shirt and the world is perfect again....well, not the whole world but I'll take what I can get to save my sanity...
Obviously, there is turmoil all over the place causing a lot of disruption to people's lives. It's sad. Just sad. And a little scary too. Over the past six years since I started this, almost to the day, we've been through a lot together. A pandemic, multiple wars, social strife. It is quite remarkable when you think about it. We've gone through it as a community supporting each other.
Last week during pick ups, we could feel heightened tension with a lot of you guys. I know it sounds weird but we feel your vibes. We are sensitive to it. Some of you were bit short with us or frustrated with the lines and that's okay. I get that when things get a little much in heads, things can come out sideways when can't seem to dam everything up very well. All I want to say about that is that we get it. But at times like these, it is incredibly important to maintain our civility and our humanity. It is the one thing we can control. All the rest is out of our hands.
So, if you are frustrated, sad, mad, angry, scared, etc, no need to lash out to us or anyone else to release the pressure. I'll give you a hug instead. Remember, we are all in the same boat....together..we've been through a lot already and know how to do this. We have to care for each other...
Okay, back to the fish sitch. I am trying to see what we have to look forward to this week but things haven't quite shaken out just yet. We definitely have more Martha's Vineyard bay scallops. But, remember, these little pearls are not around in large or unlimited quantities. So, if you want some, order early. They do sell out quickly. Set your alarm.
Faroe Island salmon is here this week. As are Hokkaido scallops. Both sushi grade so with this wonderful weather, poke bowls seem like a nice idea. We laso have more blast frozen Steehead trout fillets which are also sushi grade and amazing in a bowl...or roasted up like you would salmon...
I know may of you with be cleaning out your grills and getting the ready for the first grills of the year. Branzini and rainbow trout really love fire. Just saying..
As will be the cooked octopus tentacles!!! We may be going to hell in a bucket but at least we can enjoy the ride, yeah?
We have some Boston mackerel fillets, whole daurades, fresh Portuguese sardines...and hamachi kamas on the grill? yeah...
We have plenty of our usual suspects around. And as far as special features go, Wagyu ground beef is back in the mix! We have more shrimp and crab canneloni back too!
More smoked albacore tuna spread is around. Grab it while you can.
And as always, I am still keeping my eyes peeled for something else coming our way. You never know..There are a few possibilities still to reveal themselves....
You see how much fun we can have? I feel it too...
Littleneck clams are the shellfish of the week....Pair with Settentatre Pasta Co's organic fresh spinach linguini for cheapest meal ever!! Not sure about oysters yet ... We have labneh and smoked fish..So many good things..
Plenty of crab meat, shrimp, etc....
I know, I know..Lots of words...
Anyway, as usual, I have to thank all of you guys for being in our lives. What an incredible community we live in...
