Week of February 16, 2026 - Small World Seafood Update
Hello everybody!!
Well, how fun was this past weekend, huh? Everyone seemed to let of a little steam after the brief hibernation. Plus, given a few things to celebrate such as Valentines Day and the Lunar New Year beginning Tuesday night, we were ready for something good...
It feels like we are over the hump. I know there is more cold weather ahead but I feel like we are getting closer to the end than we are from the beginning. The Lenten season starts this week. We are three weeks from Daylight savings and springing forward. And now is the time to think about dropping a couple and eating a bit better going forward. that means more fish in your life. It works. It really does.
We will see what the week brings us a more boats have been heading out with more tranquil waters out there. But, as can happen from time to time, we will have some fresh Hawaiin Tombo this week! Tombo is their name for albacore tuna. Sushi grade of course. We love our tombo around here. Beautiful ruby to cream color and such amazing flavor. A real winner for poke bowls or sushi rolls. It's nice to have some clean eating..
Also, if you are thinking of making a poke spread, you can add our sushi grade Faroe Island salmon and Hokkaido scallops! Whether fresh or blast frozen, still sushi grade! Throw in some hamachi loin and you have a feast!
And you have a bunch of accessories to help you with that. Our sushi short grain rice. Top tier stuff. Nori, wasabi powder, pickled ginger, ponzu sauce. Heck, all you have to do is make the rice and slice!!!
But if sushi isn't your thing, the albacore is fantastic poached in a sauce such as a puttanesca or a Provencal. just saying...
We have plenty of branzini and rainbow trout butterflied. Black Cod and Chilean seabass fillets. Local herring and Boston mackerel fillets. And so many goodies to have fun with. Plus, with over 150 recipes on our main website, there's no reason not to experiment a bit. Try new things.
And as always, I am still keeping my eyes peeled for something else coming our way. You never know..
You see how much fun we can have? I feel it too...
PEI mussels are the shellfish of the week....Pair with Settentatre Pasta Co's organic fresh spinach linguini for cheapest meal ever!! Not sure about oysters yet ... We have labneh and smoked fish..So many good things..
Plenty of crab meat, shrimp, etc....
I know, I know..Lots of words...
Anyway, as usual, I have to thank all of you guys for being in our lives. What an incredible community we live in...
