Week of December 8, 2025 - Small World Seafood Update

Hello everybody!!

Now that we have olive oil week over and done with (yikes!), we can race toward Christmas and New Year's Eve. Speaking of, both of those holidays are on a Thursday this year so we will be doing something a wee bit different. Both of those weeks, I will be sending out an update/order form email on the Mondays of that paticular week. The 22nd and the 29th of December. Pick ups will be following day on Tuesday the 23rd and Tuesday the 30th. There will be no Thursday or Friday pick ups those weeks..(Although we will be at the shop Fridays mornings to do some prep for the Saturday markets)

In the meantime, we have two more weeks before those holiday weeks so let's have a little fun with things. First of all, weather around the Faroe Islands has been miserable so no fresh Faroe Island salmon this week. In its place, we have every salmon's favorite cousin, fresh Steelhead trout coming to the party! Sushi grade, fatty and mild in flavor with a color orange like a mandarin, this is one delicious member of the trout family! We will have blast frozen Faroe Island salmon, however....for those who just have to have that....

We have Spanish mackerel fillets. We will have cod cheeks. Butterflied branzini as well as Rainbow trout, whole scaled and gutted Daurades....Black cod fillets and Chilean seabass fillets...Tons of really good and interesting fish including Portuguese sardines and little red mullets (barbouni/rouget).

And then the fun stuff begins. We will have more lobster ravioli. We have a batch of smoked albacore tuna spread. Some of you guys really die for this stuff..I do, too, by the way..We also have a nice shot of a sausage made by Owen from El Camino which I just love. It's a pork based cheddar and bacon smoked sausage that is insanely good...Just split it and sear it up on both sides and...wow...with some scrambled eggs or on a nice roll...yum...

I brought in a small shot of foie gras slices too. We had some a while back and they were such a hit. These are raw and meant to be seared. Hey, it's the holidays..time to be posh....

And finally, something a little off the beaten track if it weren't for the fact that it is one of those things that is rare. And rare to find done in the proper way. I met a pig farmer in South Jersey that raises a small amount of pigs on an open range 3 acre farm. He has some suckling pigs that he has dressed. Small ones. Ranging from 14-20lb each so small enough to fit in a home oven. No chemicals. No antibiotics. No hormones. Free range. Now, I don't have access to many. Around 20 or so. If you are interested in having one for Christmas (or before), email me and we can make arrangements for you to pick one up from the shop.

And finally, we have more Lava Cakes from Good Good Chocolates in Queen Village! These are so decadent and delicious. Top notch quality using Valrhona Chocolate, Plugra butter, etc. You bake them at home right from the freezer or fridge!!

Pie dough and puff pastry dough sheets are back too!

Lots of stuff, folks...

As always, I am still keeping my eyes peeled for something else coming our way. You never know..

You see how much fun we can have? I feel it too...

Littleneck clams are the shellfish of the week....Pair with Settentatre Pasta Co's organic fresh spinach linguini for cheapest meal ever!!  Not sure about oysters yet ... We have labneh and smoked fish..So many good things..

Plenty of crab meat, shrimp, etc....

I know, I know..Lots of words...

Anyway, as usual, I have to thank all of you guys for being in our lives. What an incredible community we live in...
