Week of February 16, 2026 - Bryn Mawr Farmers Market Order Form
Hello everybody!!
First of all, happy Lunar new year, the Year of the Fire Horse, to everyone celebrating! We are so proud to have been a part of your family feasts! I love the pics of your tables you have been sending. Spectacular! Plus, yesterday was Ash Wednesday marking the beginning of the Lenten season. So, fish is on the menu. Snow is melting little by little...ahhhh....I can feel the soft tremors of life reawakening around us....I think...or maybe it's just the shallow hope in my head but that's fine too...hahaha...
We have some really great stuff to keep the excitement rolling on from this past weekend! First up is some fresh, sushi grade albacore tuna from Hawaii! Known there as Tombo, we love it over here. A nice ruby red color shifting to cream, this is a small cousin in the tuna family but is fattier than yellowfin. That means more flavor. One of my faves for poke bowls or searing and slicing...
Also up this week, we got our hands on a nice shot of fresh fluke flounder! So fluke fillets are up too! One of those fish that seems basic but every time I have it, I ask myself why I don't eat it more often. I friggin love it! A nice Meuniere or a roulade stuffed with half a fish cake and I am in heaven...Also, you can make a crudo or ceviche with this fish too! Another perk!
Faroe Island salmon is here. Sushi grade and best in class. So are our Hokkaido scallops. I mean, just slice up these babies into silver dollars and make a little crudo with them. Trust me. Fantastic!
We have tons of other great things that I won't spend much time on. You know what they are...We do have more Boston mackerel and and herring fillets..great stuff. Good for the brain...
Plus we have a small shot of steelhead trout fillets that we blast froze for you guys. Sushi grade as well and just melts in your mouth...
One addition this week, which we try to do every year, is in celebration of a tradition from the Birtish Isles. Smoked haddock fillet! Also known as finnan haddie in Scotland. This is fresh haddock that we cure and smoke with our friends from El Camino. A key ingredient for Kedgeree or Cullen Skink, which is a smoked fish soup. Tis the season for it. If you are into making chowders and want to add a little smoke without using bacon to do it, this is your path. Amazing..
And for the pets, we are packing one pound bags of raw salmon trim. Not really for human consumption although you could. But really meant for your pets...
And a million other goodies...
One add on is a different type of caviar I wanted to add to the mix. A domestic one. This is Hackleback Caviar which has a nice small grain and blacker color. Of all the really good domestic caviar we produce here, this is considered to be the best of them all..
So have at it!!!
PEI mussels and littleneck clams are the shellfish of the week. And with organic fresh spinach linguini from Settantatre Pasta Co? Best cheap meal ever! Beach Plums are the oysters this week from Massachussetts . Nice and plump.
See what I mean?? All this good to stuff to choose from.... Life is good...
And don't forget your frozen shrimp and condiments and sauces...And dog treats for doggies...
I know, I know. Lots of words but, hey, consider the alternative...
Here is the order form. Bring a bag! Bring a bag! Bring a bag!
