Week of September 8, 2025 - Small World Seafood Update

Hello everybody!!

So, a few clarifications about my request last week. I told you that we were looking for someone to join our team but I guess I wasn't clear enough as evidenced by a lot of good questions. So, we are looking for someone to work with us a minimum of Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays (there are more days available but that is the minimum). Basically a 7:30am to 4pm kind of day. The job entails everything we all do, namely, portioning, bagging, labelling, sorting. That requires the ability to lift heavy boxes of product. Someone who enjoys talking to people because, well, that's a big part of what we do. Also, we are looking for that person to have the ability to drive a vehicle well that is capable of driving one of our vans to pick up spots. You don't need a special commercial license for that. Just a regular old driver license. Once again, you can email us resumes and we can talk to you about it. We would like to hire someone by the end of the month of September or sooner..We will be adding a couple of Saturday stops in and around the city that I think many of you will find pretty cool.

So this week is beginning well for fishing. The weekend brought the full moon, the weather was nice enough, the long weekend was over and a tone of boats went out. And guess what is landing boat after boat in Nova Scotia? Halibut!!!! So this week it's back! I know this is one of your favorites so here you go! For those new to it, check out the recipe on our site for pan searing and finishing in the oven. Resto style. It's a winner.

Also, on the menu this week, we have some of those fishies that really have so much flavor and are packed with omeg 3s. We have frozen whole cleaned Portuguese sardines. We have Boston mackerel fillets. We have more hamachi kama (the collar). We also have more hamachi loin for the sushi heads..

We brought in a nice shot of butterflied Rainbow trout fillets to go along with our branzini butterflied. We have these beautiful really large whole daurades. They boxed up bigger fish that we usually get. Instead of one pounders, we got one and half pounders. So each fish is good for two instead of one per person.

We have Faroe Island salmon fresh as well as blast frozen. But are sushi grade. We have Hokkaido scallops. Same thing with those babies.

As far as special items, we have more Romaine lettuce from Sussex Fresh. How good was that stuff? Crunchy, flavorful, delish..

We have a bit more Canadian bacon. Jump on it. We also will be getting a shot of hot smoked (also known as kippered) salmon! Of course we only use our delish Faroe Island salmon so this will be better than most kippered salmons you would see out there. You know, great input in, great product out. They are vac packed so the shelf life is a month in your fridge or you can freeze them.

We have more shrimp and crab canneloni in vodka cream sauce from Settantatre pasta Co. Our shrimp, our crab, of course. And not skimpy on it either. A great pop into the air fryer and heat up for a delicious meal with a salad or something.

And a few things still are trying to work themselves out so stay tuned on that.

You see? How much fun we can have?

Littleneck clams are the shellfish of the week....Pair with Settentatre Pasta Co's organic fresh spinach linguini for cheapest meal ever!!  Oysters will be Pemaquid Selects from Maine ... We have labneh and smoked fish..So many good things..

Plenty of crab meat, shrimp, etc....

I know, I know..Lots of words...

Anyway, as usual, I have to thank all of you guys for being in our lives. What an incredible community we live in...
