Week of September 22, 2025 - Small World Seafood Update

Hello everybody!!

Well, how about this convergence of the autumnal equinox and the new moon phase happening right now? Symbolically, the equinox symbolizes the balance of things. Equal day to night while the new moon (or no moon in the sky really) symbolizes the beginning of new things. This is why Rosh Hashanah always occurs on a new moon. One event is based on the movement of the sun while the other on the movement of the moon.

It is extremely rare for the equinox and the new moon to coincide on the same day. Together, though, they can symbolize a powerful moment for new intentions rooted in harmony. The convergence amplifies the sense of transition and turning of the page. So, this is a good time to reflect on the things you need to let go and leave behind and look forward to the excitement of new things on the horizon that are just calling for you. Take the leap. Now's the time for all of us. As individuals, as a community, as a society..

I am still trying to figure out what we may have for this week. As happens once in a while, you can get these weeks where there is not a ton of fish out there pouring into the markets. I am keeping my eyes open for things in the next few days. But that doesn't mean we can't have fun anyway. So, for this week, we have blast frozen halibut fillets! We bought a bunch of it a few weeks back when we had fresh fillets and blast froze it for a week such as this one. That's the point of taking advantage of high volumes and low prices on items such as this. No?

We have more rainbow trout butterflied as well as branzini butterflied. What a combo that it! So easy to prepare and world class fish at that.We have Black cod fillets. Another world class fish. I mean, for the price you pay in a resto for things like this of this high quality, you get so much more for so much less money. It's the best.

We have Faroe Island salmon, hokkaido scallops. Both sushi grade. We also have hamachi loins and kamas (collars). Plus a whole bunch of other great fish and seafood.

For special items, we have another shot of terrific lettuce from Walt at Sussex Fresh in Delaware. Leafy Crisp green lettuce this time. So many of you have be floored by the taste, quality and shelf life of this lettuce. It is truly amazing stuff...

And now onto the smoked fish. Many of you will be buying smoked fish in anticipation of the break fast of Yom Kippur next week. We will have what you need. In addtion to all the smoked fish goodies, we will also have our house made smoked albacore tuna spread. Just fantastic stuff. We still have afew gefilte fish logs left so grab them now if you want some. We won't see more until Passover. Just be warned..

You see? How much fun we can have?

Littleneck clams are the shellfish of the week....Pair with Settentatre Pasta Co's organic fresh spinach linguini for cheapest meal ever!!  Malpeques from PEI ... We have labneh and smoked fish..So many good things..

Plenty of crab meat, shrimp, etc....

I know, I know..Lots of words...

Anyway, as usual, I have to thank all of you guys for being in our lives. What an incredible community we live in...

Happy new year to all those celebrating Rosh Hashanah!
