Week of September 14, 2026 - Small World Seafood Update
Hello everybody!!
I hope everyone had a fabulous almost fallish weekend! And for those who celebrated the Jewish new year, happy new year!
I seem to have said this often in the past six years since we started this (for a list of reasons) but as crazy as the world may be, we have a great, beautiful, friendly, foodie little bubble that we live in right here in the Small World sphere. That just shows the power of the local community. We prop each other up. We are all in this together. And with technology at the center of a lot of conversations, how great that we are all humans dealing with humans here.
So, after a summer full of tuna followed by a few weeks without, our collective withdrawal has reached a peak. But no worries. Relief is in sight! This week, fresh yellowfin from Canada!!! Sushi grade, of course. Poke night is back on!!!
Also in play this week, is more Greenland turbot fillet!! A fantastic flatfish! And being the more northern cousin of King halibut, it has the texture of buttah..I love this fish on it's own and especially in parchment..What a wonderful way to prepare this..
We have Faroe Island salmon and Hokkaido scallops. Both sushi grade! hey, if you are going to have a poke party, tuna, salmon and scallops is one mighty pretty spread! And maybe some hamachi loin for a little extra?
We have more fresh claw and knuckle lobster meat from Nova Scotia. Possibly this week or next week will be the last of it for a little bit..I keep saying that but every time i say it, it gets more real..weird..
We have branzini butterflied as well as rainbow trout. Chilean seabass, Black Cod fillets..
We have the essential whole crab meat blend back. With claw meat, special, lump and Jumbo lump all in one can. amazing for crab cakes and pasta dishes..
You see? Lots of fun stuff to play with, no?
And as always, I am still keeping my eyes peeled for something else coming our way. You never know..There are a few possibilities still to reveal themselves....
You see how much fun we can have? I feel it too...
Littleneck clams are the shellfish of the week....Pair with Settentatre Pasta Co's organic fresh spinach linguini for cheapest meal ever!! Not sure about oysters yet... We have labneh and smoked fish..So many good things..
Plenty of crab meat, shrimp, etc....
I know, I know..Lots of words...
Anyway, as usual, I have to thank all of you guys for being in our lives. What an incredible community we live in...
