Week of August 25, 2025 - Small World Seafood Update

Hello everybody!!

And here we are. Nearing  the unofficial end of summer. Labor Day weekend coming up! And it looks like it will be one pretty weekend, as well! We have lots of fun stuff for you guys to play with! You know? It's weird. It feels like this year is flying by. But at the same time, Memorial Day feels like it was so long ago...how can both things be true at the same time? Who knows. Maybe Einstein or something..Some of you want to get out of dodge a little early. You can always stop by our shop at 444 N 4th St any time Thursday from 8am til 6pm. We'll be there and you can load up on goodies...

Anyway, The Ellen Jean landed yesterday in Maine with some beautiful yellowfin tuna! This has definitely been one of the best years I can remember for tuna. Not only the volume but also the quality. Finishing off the summer with a nice poke bowl or tuna tartare seems appropriate for the summer of '25.

Also, on the menu this week, and perhaps the last op for a little while will be fresh claw and knuckle lobster meat! There is a little oversupply in the market this week and suppliers are making deals. It's not as cheap as it was but it's also not asa expensive as it will continue to get. So, as your fish broker, my recommendation is: BUY. Again, you have one week to eat it or you can freeze it for later.

Branzini butterflied is back! So many of you have been hooked on it and i  totally understand. So easy to prepare and eat like a rock star. Pretty excellent, no? We will also have whole scaled and gutted daurades as well as cleaned and blast frozen Portuguese sardines!!! How about a nice taste of the Mediterranean for a stroll down memory lane?

And I am so glad that so many of you have fallen in love with Boston mackerel. What a terrific mild mackerel with all of the flavor and healthiness a fish can have. It is so versatile in that it can be grilled, pan seared or roasted in the oven. Heck, you can even smoke it if you like!

We will have more hamachi loin and kama cause they are so necessary to have in your freezer and break glass in case of emergency. The former for a sushi craving, the latter for a delish hot meal..

We have more rainbow trout butterflied. More Black Cod (also known as sablefish) fillets. More lobster tails and sushi grade rock shrimp. More Head on Argentine red shrimp.

And along with our delicious swordfish meatballs in pistachio pesto cream sauce, we are bringing back the shrimp and crab canneloni from Settantatre!! It felt a little rich for the hot weather in the summer but it's cooling off out there and this will definitely warm the bones...

You see? How much fun we can have?

Littleneck clams are the shellfish of the week....Pair with Settentatre Pasta Co's organic fresh spinach linguini for cheapest meal ever!!  Summersides are the oysters from PEI ... We have labneh and smoked fish..So many good things..

Plenty of crab meat, shrimp, etc....

I know, I know..Lots of words...

Anyway, as usual, I have to thank all of you guys for being in our lives. What an incredible community we live in...
