Week of July 7, 2025 - Small World Seafood Update
Hello everybody!!
Coming back to work after a week off ain't easy..Driving back to the city from a week at the shore, the whole way back on the Atlantic City Expressway, I thought that my car was making a funny sound. Nope. It turns out that it was the soft groans and whimpers coming from all the people in cars heading back to the real world....boo hoo....
But, on the other hand, it is nice to look forward to seeing all of you guys again! We missed you! Did you miss us?? Everyone in the fish business is slowly winding back to work as well. And with that tropical storm down in the Carolinas generating strong rip currents up the coast, fishing has been a bit iffy.
However, that system has not affected locations further north so it's our luck to have more fresh sushi grade yellowfin tuna from Canada!!! Firm, nice fat content and, well, you guys know what to do with it by now...
And while the good times for lobsters are still in the reasonably priced range, we have more fresh cooked claw and knuckle meat from Nova Scotia! Look, you can go out and buy a lobster roll for $30. Or, you can make 4 to 5 rolls for $48. I usually make 5 rolls with a pound. Lobster meat is pretty rich. So, take advantage and eat as many as you can before there is no more around...
Also on the menu this week, remember when we had fresh halibut a few weeks back? Well, we grabbed a bunch of extra to portion and blast freeze for a rainy day. And guess what? Here comes the rain, baby, and so does the blast frozen halibut!!! Straight from Nova Scotia and just phenomenal.
We have a bunch more branzinis coming in this week which we will butterfly and vac pack. I mean, honestly. So easy to prepare. Check out my video on our main website for how to prepare it four different ways. Compared to what you would pay for it in a resto, come on..you can do it...
We have more frozen skate cheeks this week! More wild Jumbo head on shrimp from Argentina. More wild rock shrimp from Alabama. This little buggers are sushi grade meaning you can make one banger of a ceviche with them. Even mix them with our sushi grade scallops...
As usual, we have gorgeous (the most gorgeous, in fact) Faroe Island salmon this week. Sushi grade and available fresh or blast frozen..This stuff not only looks beautiful but it also melts in your mouth!
As for special items, load up on more of those amazing smoked pork/beef hot dogs from El Camino! If you like hot dogs, you will love these....
You see? How much fun we can have?
PEI mussels are the shellfish of the week....Pair with Settentatre Pasta Co's organic fresh spinach linguini for cheapest meal ever!! Not sure on oysters yet ... We have labneh and smoked fish..So many good things..
Plenty of crab meat, shrimp, etc....
I know, I know..Lots of words...
Anyway, as usual, I have to thank all of you guys for being in our lives. What an incredible community we live in...
