Week of July 20, 2026 - Small World Seafood Update

Hello everybody!!

Aaaaand, the weather breaks...Less smoke, less heat...So weird to see the sky the way it was. Looked like a distant planet from a Star Trek episode around here. Plus, seeing so many people walking around with masks was a little triggering of the Covid days..On the positive side of things, Spain wins the World Cup! At least, one team showed up to play..ugh..not a good look for Argentina...Kind of depressed it's all over though. That was an amazingly fun tournament and the US really put on a good look to the thousands that came here. Pretty cool...

Another winner this past week was us. We were voted 'Best Fishmonger' by Philadelphia Magazine! It is quite an honor to be recognized for what you do. Of course, you guys show us that you feel the same way week in and week out. That's the love we really seek, to be honest. And we work hard to bring you the best stuff with a business model that is unmistakably and irrefutably human. In a world where technology is isolating us from each other, we work to bring everyone together. You can't AI that...

So, let's celebrate with some good stuff this week, yeah? First up is some sushi grade little bigeye tunas from Canada!!! A darker meat with a bit more fattiness, so good for poke bowls and sushi parties!! Add our sushi grade salmon and scallops to the mix as well as hamachi loin and you could feed an army! Compare what you would pay if you went to a sushi resto. So much cheaper doing it yourself..

And speaking of that, fresh cooked lobster meat from Nova Scotia! A pound makes five rolls. That's a roll for under ten bucks. I thought I would get sick of lobster meat by now but I must have built up an immunity to getting tired of it. I just can't get enough..

Crab meat is a mess. Not sure when the price will break but right now, supply just isn't there. So, a small amount of the blend which is really fantastic for crab cakes or some all claw meat which is well. The claw has the flavor but not that white color to it. But it is super flavorful. And at $18 per pound, pretty great value.

We have rainbow trout, branzini, Chilean seabass, Black cod, tons of other stuff.

For special items, we have more shrimp and crab canneloni in vodka cream sauce. Also, fish meatballs in creamy pesto sauce. Plus, marinated Cherry peppers stuffed with mussel meat is back in the mix! Great as a little tapas thing or try it as a garnish for your afternoon martini..really amazing!!!

And as always, I am still keeping my eyes peeled for something else coming our way. You never know..There are a few possibilities still to reveal themselves....

You see how much fun we can have? I feel it too...

Littleneck clams are the shellfish of the week....Pair with Settentatre Pasta Co's organic fresh spinach linguini for cheapest meal ever!!  Not sure about oysters yet... We have labneh and smoked fish..So many good things..

Plenty of crab meat, shrimp, etc....

I know, I know..Lots of words...

Anyway, as usual, I have to thank all of you guys for being in our lives. What an incredible community we live in...
