Week of May 18, 2026 - Small World Seafood Update
Hello everybody!!
Well, i don't know about you guys but this year has been speeding at hyperdrive...WTF,,,it's already Memorial Day??? I think we could all use a little bit of a slowdown. A pause. A recharge..And this is one way to do it...dinner and lunch parties with friends and family..The weather is looking a little crappy for the weekend but that just means that you will have more time to cook and eat!!!!
The markets are pretty quiet with many monthly fishing quotas fulfilled already while some fish are just hiding somewhere and the fishers can't find them. It ain't an easy job.
But that's okay. I was actually thinking that with the long weekend coming, the cool thing to do is simply to celebrate our vast selection of very cool things. I mean, it's hard to imagine that when I started this 6 years ago, I only had six items on the list!!! hahaha...so crazy...
Now, we will have more fresh lobster claw and knuckle meat this week. Lobster rolls on a holiday weekend is a must! We will also have Super frozen Chutoro as well! That is the cut from the bluefin tuna that is not as fatty as Otoro with a very nice balance of meatiness to fat. One reminder that you have to keep it frozen, you have two weeks to consume it, and you have to thaw it in the ice bath method as described in the video on our website. This stuff is insanely good.
Yes, we have Faroe Island salmon. Yes, on Hokkaido scallops. Yes, they are both sushi grade. Yes, even if they are frozen.
Chilean seabass, Black Cod fillets, branzini and rainbow trout butterflied, hamachi loins and kamas, shrimp of all kinds..Cooked octopus tentacles to grill up, shumai for appetizers, smoked albacore tuna spread on crackers too!
Loo, there is no celebrating anything without food. Not meaningfully, anyway. And this is a time to celebrate, appreciate and to stop to smell the roses.
And as always, I am still keeping my eyes peeled for something else coming our way. You never know..There are a few possibilities still to reveal themselves....
You see how much fun we can have? I feel it too...
Littleneck clams are the shellfish of the week....Pair with Settentatre Pasta Co's organic fresh buccatini for cheapest meal ever!! Not sure about oysters yet ... We have labneh and smoked fish..So many good things..
Plenty of crab meat, shrimp, etc....
I know, I know..Lots of words...
Anyway, as usual, I have to thank all of you guys for being in our lives. What an incredible community we live in...
