Week of August 25, 2025 - Swarthmore Farmers Market Order Form
Hello everybody!!
I am getting a little tired of this beautiful weather. I don't have anything to really complain about now....kidding. What a pleasure this is. Comfortable days, cool nights, less bugs. Wow! Something to really appreciate and savor. Like good food...
Speaking of (see what I did there?), let's kick things off with fresh sushi grade yellowfin tuna from Maine! These fish are superb quality and perfect to kick off the holiday weekend! I don't think I need to tell you what to do with it. We've been lucky enough to have a consistent amount of tuna this year so you guys are pros now. Nicely done!
Last chance for fresh claw and knuckle lobster meat for the year, I think. The August run is over in Maine and the harvest was disappointing once again meaning prices will continue to go up. I know it's a wee bit pricey but think of it this way. You can get 4 or 5 lobster rolls out of a pound of meat. I do 5. Lobster meat is pretty rich. Compare that to what you would pay in a resto for a lobster roll and now it's a bargain. Just saying..
Branzini butterflied are back! We still have butterflied rainbow trout if you like too! I love both of these things. So easy to prepare and so satisfying that you can make an easy meal taste so good. Check out my recipes on our website for how to cook them up.
We also have whole daurades scaled and gutted for you all! Plus, whole fresh sardines from Portugal that we blast froze! And more Boston mackerel fillets for you all! Love that fish..Plus a fish from Hawaii called Monchong, known as pomfret in India. Skinless boneless fillets that are mild in flavor and firm enough to really hold up to any application. It is popularly used in curries since it doesn't fall apart and soaks up all the flavor nicely..
Yes, we have Faroe Island salmon for you this week! Have you noticed how many restos and now selling Faroe Island salmon these days? I wonder if they read these emails...Anyway, sushi grade and best in class...Plus, Hokkaido scallops as well. Sushi grade too! Prices have gone up a tad on scallops. Sorry folks. Tariffs and low supply domestically driving the prices up.
We have more Black Cod (also known as sablefish), rock shrimp, lobster tails and a whole bunch of other goodies...
An item we will add to the rotation since many of you have been asking for some is some pickled ginger. We get a good quality one in buckets that we use in our cocktail sauce. If you like the stuff, grab a small container. It's nice to just have around.
Littleneck clams and mussels are the shellfish of the week. Best cheap meal ever! Summersides are the oysters this week from PEI. Nice and plump.
See what I mean?? All this good to stuff to choose from.... Life is good...
And don't forget your frozen shrimp and condiments and sauces...And dog treats for doggies...
I know, I know. Lots of words but, hey, consider the alternative...
Here is the order form. Bring a bag! Bring a bag! Bring a bag!
