Week of May 25, 2026 - Fairmount/444 N 4th Order Form
Hello everybody!!
Well, the trees and rivers have been soooooo happy the past week or so...My socks and shoes? Not so much....But, the climate gods need to make everything happy and we aren't the only ones on this floating rock..we do have a bright week ahead of us so it's always with gratitude that we get our turn...
Speaking of gratitude, one of the few fisheries that is really crushing it right now is lobster. Tis the season for boats in Nova Scotia and they seem to be coming back with relatively nice hauls right now. That's good for us. More reasonably priced fresh claw and knuckle lobster meat! I know the price may feel high at $50 per pound. But considering that it takes five pounds of whole lobster to generate one pound of meat and that you can make 5 nice lobster rolls per pound, well, now it sounds pretty reasonable, no?
And let's have a little fun with the weird things that make life weird and fun! We have Spanish mackerel fillets from North Carolina! Absolute beauties. Boneless as well! One of my favorite fish to cook up. Easy in the oven at 450F skin side up (yes, up) with salt pepper olive oil, for 12 minutes. Or try your hand at one of the recipes on our site for an Italian prep or Thai prep. Both S class winners..
We have Icelandic cod cheeks for those who want to take an adventure into something familiar as well as unique. Texture like scallops, flavor like cod, I mean...
We have fresh Portuguese sardines back in the mix! Those who love it, love it. Those who don't, wish they did. Those who wish they did should just stop wishing and start cooking. Great stuff...
Also, red mullets, also known as Rouget or barbounis, are in! Beautiful little fish you can fry up for a taste of the Mediterranean!
We have Faroe Island salmon and Hokkaido scallops. Both sushi grade. We have all the fun players that make your life more flavorful and satisfying. And, that's what this is all about. Diverting yourself from the madness of the world, creating and positive vibe centered around your kitchen and dinner table. Precious moments with friends and family..What's more valuable in life than that?
Fish meatballs in creamy pesto sauce are back!
Tons of stuff, really. Everything to make your dreams come true...
We have PEI mussels this week. Great thing to add to Settantatre Pasta Co fresh buccatini. Best cheap meal ever!!.Also, East Beach Blondes are the oysters this week from Rhode Island ...good stuff..and briny..
So have at it!!!
See what I mean?? All this good to stuff to choose from.... Life is good...You'll never need to leave the house...
And don't forget your frozen shrimp, crab meat, and condiments and sauces...And dog treats for doggies...Coddy Canes are back too..
I know, I know. Lots of words but, hey, consider the alternative...
