Week of April 21, 2025 - Fairmount/444 N 4th Order Form
Hello everybody!!
Boy, it's starting to warm up early this year! I like it! People are out and about, sitting outside to eat, I can smell grills fired up all over my neighborhood. How exciting!
You know what else is exciting? Mish mash week! As I stated in the previous email, the Easter holiday idles lots of boats in many parts of the world where we would get fish anyway. Hey, even fishers need time with their families. Totally understandable and to be appreciated. What a difficult and dangerous job sometimes. It is easy to forget that they put their lives on the line to get food on the table for all of us.
Anyway, let's get on the roll with the fun stuff! First up is the king of sushi products. Bluefin Otoro!!! This is the belly part of the largest of the tuna species which is most prized for its fattiness and flavor. These cuts are super-frozen meaning frozen and held at -60F to preserve freshness without any additives. There are very specific instructions on how to thaw so check out our website. Also, remember that you should consume it within a week of purchase. And don't you know? We got a special deal on them so getting a large quantity. So, the price per pound is dropping from $70 per to $60 per. How about that? Each piece is approx half pound plus or minus..
Also on the list and so fun to play with is hamachi kamas!! Kamas are the collar and are, in my opinion, the best part of this fish. This is something you have to cook. My preferred way is olive oil, salt, pepper, 450F for 10 minutes, broil for 5. But, you can miso glaze it or make your own soy ginger glaze too! 4 collars per pack!
We have wild Argentine red shrimp! Whole, shell on, head on! These things are gorgeous and big in size too! You get approx 7-10 per pound! Great for a peel 'em sitch, great for soups, cioppinos, paellas!
We have more black cod fillets! More skate cheeks to have fun with! More branzini butterflied! Yes on South African lobster tails, wild rock shrimp, too!
yes on Faroe Island salmon from Hiddenfjord. More Hokkaido scallops which are sushi grade as well.
Special items this week, smoked pork/beef hot dogs from El Camino! These things are unbelievably good. Trust me. I used to own a hot dog shop in a previous life. And this week, we will have bagel wars! Actually, not really a war. This week, we will offer up either sesame bagels or everything bagels. Your choice!!
Plus one add on to the smoked fish list i am totally excited about. Smoked mackerel fillets!!! You get four fillets per pack averaging around 10oz each. This stuff is so good!! Flavorful, moist, smoky, delish..Omega 3 bomb, baby...
Oh. And babka kits are back...relax....
Littleneck clams are the shellfish of the week. And with organic fresh Spinach linguini from Settantatre Pasta Co? Best cheap meal ever! Pleasure Cove oysters from Maine this week. Nice and plump.
See what I mean?? All this good to stuff to choose from.... Life is good...You'll never need to leave the house...
And don't forget your frozen shrimp, crab meat, and condiments and sauces...And dog treats for doggies...Coddy Canes are back too..
I know, I know. Lots of words but, hey, consider the alternative...
