Week of October 13, 2025 - Fairmount/444 N 4th Order Form

Hello everybody!!

Boy, does this weather ever want to make you curl up under a blanket with a cup of tea or what? Days are getting shorter and you can feel it. Plus. with more layers of clothes piling on, I notice more people eating donuts and stick buns around the city..I don't know if that's related or not but I have a theory about that...

Aaanyway, let's get into the fish and seafood for the week. Obviously, you've heard about that nasty nor'easter that pounded the east coast over the past few days. Not only was there lots of flooding and damage to shore points but that was no weather for a boat to go out and fish. So the markets were very light on fish on this week with many items carrying over from the weekend.

But, as we've been able to blast freeze the fish at its freshest and stocking it to bring you stellar stuff, we happen to still have a great variety of things for you. Now, I know that some of you like the super new things. So, try something you've been afraid to try. Yeah. Afraid. Take the leap. Take the risk. The revelation that you may actually like, much less love, something you haven't tried in a while can be magical. Some people say they don't like something, for example trout. When I ask them when the last time they tried it was, I get answers like 10 years ago or 20 years ago. Come on. Don't you think your palate may have changed at all? Even more, isn't it possible that what you tried was a much crappier version of we sell? See what I mean?

Another mental block is getting stuck in the routine of cooking the same thing the same way and getting bored with that. Well, try a different technique. Try a a different cuisine. Try steaming. Try poaching. Try curing. Try mastering pan frying. Try mastering deep frying. Try making a chowder with fish or clams. Try a different sauce for your mussels.

Look. It's getting darker out earlier. It's getting colder. We just have more time to play with these things at home. I know we are all super busy. But what better way to disconnect from the frazzle of the day than to emmerse yourself in a project preparing a dish you've never made before. The excitement. The satisfaction. The enjoyment. (The relief).

All that I am saying is there are lots of things to have fun with, people! That's what it's about!! The pleasure of eating the food we make. And sharing it with others. Nothing better than that...

PEI mussels are the shellfish of the week. And with organic fresh spinach linguini from Settantatre Pasta Co? Best cheap meal ever! Summer Loves are the oysters this week from PEI. Nice and plump.

See what I mean?? All this good to stuff to choose from.... Life is good...You'll never need to leave the house...

And don't forget your frozen shrimp, crab meat, and condiments and sauces...And dog treats for doggies...Coddy Canes are back too..

I know, I know. Lots of words but, hey, consider the alternative...
