Week of January 5, 2026 - Chestnut Hill Farmers Market Order Form

Hello everybody!!

Please remember that we begin winter hours for the market. 10a til noon....

I love getting emails from you guys in response to my updates. So many of you are planning the year ahead with a focus on self care and self improvement. I love that. It is so important to set small, attainable goals for yourself. The act of trying to change can be as rewarding as the changes themselves. In fact, it is a new mindset that allows you to see the path forward not as littered with obstacles that can end your progress but as laid out with challenges and puzzles that simply need to be solved. You can do it.

I know it is self serving but it's true. Eating more fish is just better for you. There is a stat out there that cities with the highest consumption of fish have the lowest crime rates. Now, I don't know if that is always true but the crime rate in Philly has steadily gone down since we've been doing this...coincidence? Maybe...maybe not...hahaha

Okay, let's get into it. We have some beautiful Spanish mackerel fillets for you all! Mild, flavorful and so healthy for you. Mackerels can have be quite intense in flavor. Not so for Spanish mackerel. It is one of the mildest. So easy to pan fry or roast in your oven at high temp, around 450F for about ten minutes. Try doing that skin side up to really crsip up the skin. No need to flip it...Just a little salt pepper and olive oil..Yum!

Also, we have these beautiful local herring fillets that we blast froze as well and are terrific cooked up the exact same way. I like to tmake a nice caper brown butter sauce to go along with these but in a pinch, melting a bit of Bibou garlic butter and drizzling over the fish after cooking is pretty splendid.

We have Faroe Island salmon in the week. Sushi grade and best in class. Not even close. Notice how many menus around town are featuring Faroe Island salmon now? Did we start something?

We have Japanese Hokkaido scallops. Sushi grade..also best in class...

We have more butterflied Rainbow trout from Idaho!!! isn't this the best trout you've ever had? Me too. Also, more butterflied branzini...

So many other great things to choose from and have fun with. Step out of your norm. Try something new. Experiment. Have fun with it. Food is there to nurture your body as well as your soul. Know what I mean?

PEI mussels and litttleneck clams are the shellfish of the week. And with your favorite pasta? Best cheap meal ever! Christmas Points are the oysters this week from Maine. Nice and plump.

All this good to stuff to choose from.... Life is good...

And don't forget your frozen shrimp and condiments and sauces...And dog treats for doggies...

I know, I know. Lots of words but, hey, consider the alternative...

Here is the order form. Bring a bag! Bring a bag! Bring a bag!
