Week of May 5, 2025 - Small World Seafood Update

Hello everybody!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! Wow! So much going on in the city. What an awesome vibe all around. And for those who ran the Broad Street Run, congrats!

Okay, we have a lot of stuff to talk about with Mother's Day coming up this weekend. But first, an announcement to make. There are lots of people in our area who do not have access to good seafood like we do. We get a lot of requests to join a farmers market in many areas. Well, we decided to take the plunge this year and addd on or two! Beginning on Saturday, May 24th (Memorial weekend), we will be joining the Swarthmore Farmers Market every other week!!! So, if you live in that area or know people who live close to Swarthmore or Media, one can go to our main website, smallworldseafood.com to sign up for that email list. As we do everywhere do this, people would be able to pre-order and then also have a stab at all the extras we bring with us...Spread the word!!!!! Also, we would like to hire someone to work with us for the summer. A college student on break. A high school student just finished up looking for a summer job. Someone with a driver's license would get priority. Let us know!!

Okay, onto the fish stuff. many of you have been feeling the time of year coming for...drum roll.....soft shells!!!!! This is the week people! We will have Jumbo soft shells from North Carolina coming in later this week! We will be cleaning them so they are ready to go for you. Two things. They freeze really well if you want to stock up. Also, check out the recipe on our site for the Mark Bittman recipe for soft shells. it is the best of all time! And with some fresh organic spaghetti from Settantatre Pasta Co...come on....

Also coming in this week is gorgeous Rainbow trout from Idaho!!! The very cold waters off of the Rockies really invigorate the fish. These babies are beautiful!! You can either get them head off and boneless, or butteflied as we call it. Or you can get them whole, red meat, head on and bone in for a whole fish vibe!

And to celebrate so many mothers out there that love it so much, fresh AA  grade uni from Canada!!! This stuff is akin to the Santa Barbara uni which is typically known as the standard of excellence. Here's to you, uni moms!! Uni pasta!!!!!

Look, so much other good stuff too. Lobster tails. And more lobster ravioli from Settantatre Pasta Co to go with. More rock shrimp for ceviches. Yes, they are sushi grade. We have a small shot of blasst frozen local herring fillets for you guys. Last of the year!

More photogenic (and delicious) head on Argentine Red shrimp!! What a winner at a party...And how about the grand winner of lux fish...Black Cod!!! Perfect for a Sunday brunch or dinner with enough time to marinate for two days in our miso glaze...So many choices...

And more osetra caviar. Faroe Island salmon. Hokkaido scallops. Both sushi grade.

You see? How much fun we can have?

Littleneck clams are the shellfish of the week.... Not sure about oysters yet. We have lonsa and smoked fish..So many good things..

Plenty of crab meat, shrimp, etc....

I know, I know..Lots of words...

Anyway, as usual, I have to thank all of you guys for being in our lives. What an incredible community we live in...
