  HELLO EVERYBODY!!!!

What a summery weekend that was, huh? It was hot! It was outdoorsy! It was energized!! What a great thing to be feeling and seeing things we haven't seen in a long time. Kids playing in the parks, you know? Wed are getting out of it by these little bumps and hops...

A few people have been having trouble getting our emails. First off, we don't remove anyone from our list unless you ask. Secondly, your email provider may be moving us to your another folder or delaying our emails. What we will do from now on is also have another outlet for you to go to. On our website, smallworldseafood.com (which you should bookmark), there is a tab next to recipes called past emails. I will post the most current email live at the same time with the same explanations and links to order. I will always post the Tuesday email by noon and always post the order form email at 9am on Thursdays. Always. If you don't get the email, go to the website.

As a long weekend is coming up that normally kicks off summer for everybody, we thought we would go a little seafood crazy. So, this week, we will be bringing back branzino fillets and whole fish (scaled and gutted). Yay!!!! Beautiful Greek fish for a summery dish whether you use the fillets or grill up whole fish. Once again, the pinbones on the fillets are very small and we won't remove them because it would take us forever to do all of them but you could do it. Here is a video I prepared on how to do it. Really easy.

To play a little more with the Mediterranean thing, we are going to sell something we've never sold before. Spanish octopus!!! I know, I know. Some of you have seen the movie or read the book and you will never eat octopus again. I get it. Personally, i believe that we need to get MORE connected with our food. We need to be respectful and thoughtful of the food we eat. Period. In fact, if we raised our own pigs or chickens, we would not be so wasteful and eat more thoughtfully. My point is that we should appreciate what we eat whether it is a fish with no personality or a being with one.

Aaaaaaaanyway, the tricky part with selling raw octopus, which comes cleaned and frozen is that they come in variable weights. These particular octopuses weigh from 2 to 4 pounds each. So, the way we will do it is to create a key on Square for $1 so that we know you want one. Then, when you come to pick up, we will grab one and check the weight and calculate what you owe. Bring your credit card and we can swipe it then. Anyway, I will post up more info on Thursday on how to prepare and other particulars but here is a video for easily preparing it the Portuguese way.

And to throw the whole kit and kaboodle at you, the salmon variety of the week will be back to Steelhead trout. What amazing feedback from everyone a couple of weeks ago! Sushi grade and cooks up like salmon yet tastes like trout. Yum!! Mussels are the shellfish of the week. We will be selling frozen snow crab meat Jumbo -style again. Nice big nuggets of cooked snow crab meat out of the shell. After thawing, give it a rinse since it can be a little salty. Great for salads of fried rices or even crab cakes. On the frozen fish side of things, cod is off and frozen mahi is on. Hey, it's the long weekend and you are going to need fish tacos for Monday. Need!!

We may have a couple of other things but not sure yet. Anyway, that's enough from me. If you want, I was on a podcast last week with a customer from Washington Square that you may find interesting. Maybe not. If you like podcasts, I think it was a good one.
