SEPTEMBER 2, 2020

GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE!!!

Well, we  are coming upon the unofficial end of summer with the Labor Day coming up. And what a weird summer it was. Since it would be nearly impossible to describe the craziness, absurdity and dystopia of it all, I will try to keep things simple and positive.

Before i get into the positive, let me tiptoe into the negative. First of all, no salmon this week. If you read the email on Monday, you know why. I won't rehash it here. Also, the trout that came in stank really bad so no rainbow trout this week.

Now to the positive. I thought we could do a little 'summer's greatest hits' sort of thing. It's the long weekend coming up after all. So, fluke is back!! So many people enjoyed this beautiful local fish the last time around. It really is a treat. This particular fish is coming from our friends in Rhode Island and is beautiful! Is there anything more summer in this area than broiled or stuffed flounder? Soooo reminds me of the Jersey Shore. Speaking of, the most talked about recipe video we've posted is definitely this gem for Fluke Imperial. It's a hoot but recipe is spot on.

Can we imagine not ending the summer with lobster meat?? Perish the thought. We have lobster meat!! Claw and knuckle cooked meat perfect for lobster rolls or pasta. Also, Jonah Crab claws have been such a hit, we got more. It's gonna be a long weekend after all. Add to that a repeat of those delicious Pink Moon oysters from last week and yum it is.

Mussels are back this week as well as frozen mahi instead of cod. And since we couldn't do fresh rainbow trout this week (boohoo) we are adding one more smoked fish item to the usual smoked salmon and whitefish salad. Smoked trout fillets! These are packed in 1lb bags and will cost $20 and are also from Acme in Brooklyn.

So, you see, we can survive without salmon in our lives for a week or two. We can still have plenty to play with and enjoy. And, think of it. We will meet one day in the far future and talk about the summer of 2020 and have a great laugh and cry about how we made it through with seafood. Every time we eat a lobster roll. Every time we eat an oyster. Every time we make a crab cake. That's a good way to remember this summer. I know that's how I will, anyway.

We love you all. Here is the order form.
